The Cub Scout uniform is an essential part of the program. It helps promote equality, identity, achievement, and commitment.
The field uniform (also known as "Class A uniform") consists of:
Shirt (buy a little larger size to have your Cub Scout grown into and depending on when your Cub Scout starts you'll want to decide on whether to go with the Cub Scout blue uniform or Scout green uniform)
Lion Cubs wear official Lion t-shirts.
Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos wear official long- or short-sleeve, navy Cub Scout blue shirts.
Arrow of Light wear the official Scout tan long- or short-sleeve shirt with blue shoulder loops.
Neckerchief matching the Scout's rank
Triangular neckerchief is yellow for Lions, orange for Tigers, red for Wolf Scouts, light blue for Bear Scouts, and plaid for Webelos Scouts.
Gold-tone metal neckerchief slide with the Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, or Webelos Scout logo. Scouts may wear handmade neckerchief slides.
Belt - official Cub Scout navy-blue web belt with metal buckle or official Scout green web belt with metal buckle.
Trousers or shorts - official Cub Scout blue or official Scout green.
Official cap and socks are optional
Required patches for the shirt:
Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council patch (left shoulder)
World Crest patch (left chest)
Pack number 508 patch (left sleeve)
Den number patch (right sleeve)
Webelos: Den 4 or Den 8
Bear: Den 5

A guide to the various insignia and patches (and where to put them on a uniform) is available on the BSA Insignia Guide.
Additional items Cub Scouts may need include:

Adeventure belt loops, when awarded
Rank patches, belt loops, and pins for Webelos are paid for by the Pack

The staff at the store is very helpful and will be happy to help you find what you need. To get the correct patches for the uniform, be sure to tell them that you are with Pack 508 in Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council. They will also want to know what rank your scout is (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos) and your den number.
It is a lot of fun to visit this store, and doing so supports the local scouts council. However, if you prefer, you can shop online at www.scoutshop.org.
Cub Scout Handbook
While at the store, you should also pick up the scout handbook for your scout's den level. This is the guide to your year of scouting and will be needed for den meetings as well as to work on patches and advancements.
Adult Uniforms and Handbook
If parents decide to participate as an pack officer, such as Cubmaster, assistant Cubmaster, or den leader, you would need uniforms too. The friendly staff at the store will be able to help you find what you need. You also need an den leader's handbook if you are a den leader. You might be able to get it from prior den leaders.
