About Pack 508
Pack 508 is a Cub Scout Pack located in Saratoga, California. Our Pack is part of the Polaris District of the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council.
We welcome all boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade (and their family) to join our Pack.
Our Pack is chartered by Saratoga Federated Church. Many of our scouts attend Argonaut Elementary, Foothill Elementary, Saratoga Elementary, St. Andrew's Episcopal School, and Sacred Heart School. However, boys and girls of any religious affiliation or in attendance at other schools are welcome to join.
Pack meetings are held once a month at Saratoga Federated Church. The Pack organizes overnight camping trips in the fall and spring. Other activities include pinewood derby, popcorn sales (fundraising event), hikes, community projects, and sporting events.
Pack 508 is made up of six den levels organized by age group:
Lion cub (kindergarten)
Tiger cub (1st grade)
Wolf cub (2nd grade)
Bear (3rd Grade)
Webelos I (4th grade)
Webelos II (5th grade) - this Den transitions in the spring to Scouts BSA
Each Den establishes its own meeting schedule, usually once or twice per month. At den meetings, scouts may work on advancements or special projects, learn new skills, go on outdoor adventures -- and always have a great time.
Cub Scouts is a family activity and Pack 508 is an all-volunteer organization. There are many opportunities to get involved. Siblings are welcome to participate in all scout activities, including field trips and camping.
About Cub Scouts
The Cub Scout program has 10 purposes related to the overall mission of the Boy Scouts of America association:
Character development
Spiritual growth
Good citizenship
Sportsmanship and fitness
Family understanding
Respectful relationships
Personal achievement
Friendly service
Fun and adventure
Preparation for Scouts BSA
Every Cub Scout activity should help fulfill one of these purposes. However, not everything in Cub Scouts has to be serious – far from it! Silly songs, energetic games, and yummy snacks all have their place in the program.
Cub Scouting means “doing” – from camping to hiking to going on field trips or doing projects that help your hometown and the people who live there.
